ABOUT US
Anti-bullying and self-defense education for kids, brought directly to schools across Coquitlam and North Vancouver.
OUR MISSION
At Rocha Jiu Jitsu, our mission is to provide a transformative experience for adults and kids through the practice of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We believe that the value gained from training extends far beyond the mats, positively impacting every aspect of our students' lives.
Our academy focuses on character development, self-defense skills, and personal growth. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teaches the importance of respect, discipline, and perseverance. By providing a safe and nurturing space, we empower our students to build self-esteem, develop leadership qualities, and cultivate a positive mindset. Through our community-oriented approach, we encourage teamwork, cooperation, and empathy, fostering lifelong friendships and a sense of belonging.

MEET OUR FOUNDER
Hi my name is Gui! I'm originally from the south east of Brazil, but I spent most of my adult life living in London (UK). When I took the leap and moved to Vancouver in 2018, I began teaching my first BJJ classes as a purple belt, and that's the moment I realized I wanted to do it for the rest of my life. I worked hard to learn and improve my skills both on and off the mats and to be a role model for the kids I taught, and in 2022 I was awarded my black belt.
The experience led me to want to make a bigger impact in other kids' lives, and that's why I created Rocha Jiu Jitsu and our on-site after school program; we aim to bring anti-bullying and self defense education to kids and make after school care affordable for families.
WHERE WE TEACH
Rocha Academy runs on-site at schools across Coquitlam and North Vancouver. Instead of asking families to add another drive to an already full week, we bring the mats to the gym your child is already in.
That means no extra pickup, no rushing across town, and affordable after school care that your child genuinely looks forward to.
